Timken Contractor Workers’ Strike Ends as Deputy Labour Commissioner Calls for Investigation

Following a hearing at the Deputy Labour Commissioner’s office regarding Timken India’s contractor misbehavior with workers, the ongoing strike has been called off, with further hearings to follow.

JAMSHEDPUR – Deputy Labour Commissioner (DLC) Rajesh Prasad held a hearing on Friday regarding the strike of workers sparked off by the alleged misconduct of the proprietor of M/s Bhardwaj Infracon Pvt. Ltd., a contractor for M/s Timken India Ltd.

The strike was initiated after the proprietor was accused of misbehaving with contract workers and confiscating their gate passes.

The Johar Jharkhand Labour Federation brought forward the case on behalf of the workers.

The DLC instructed union representative Rajeev Pandey to cease the protest immediately and inform all participants to stand down.

Consequently, the strike which began during the night shift of June 2nd was officially called off. Further discussions regarding the case of Anand Sharma and others are set to be held on June 16th.

Despite this, the union expressed disappointment as no representative from Timken India attended the talks.

Rajeev Pandey stated that although the strike has ended, their movement continues.

Following the complaint lodged by Rajeev Pandey, DLC has directed the Additional Labour Commissioner to initiate an investigation into the allegations against the proprietor of M/s Bhardwaj Infracon Pvt. Ltd, Ashish Rai.

A formal notice has been sent to the Deputy Labour Commissioner for this purpose.
