Chaibasa: Chaibasa Police and CRPF 60 Battalion intercepted a significant threat to public safety, averting a major incident by locating and defusing three Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) reportedly planted by Naxalite rebels in West Singhbhum district.

The law enforcement agencies received an anonymous tip-off about the presence of IEDs intended to harm security forces.

The bombs were reportedly hidden in the Jungle Hill area near the village of Indrava, under the jurisdiction of the Karaikela police station.

Under the command of leader Sanjit Kumar, a coordinated search operation was conducted in the surrounding forest area.

The team discovered three IED bombs weighing about 5 kg each. A Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad (BDDS) team from the 60 Bn immediately neutralized the devices on site.

The successful operation preempted a potentially disastrous event, maintaining public safety. It is believed the bombs were planted by the Communist Party of India (CPI) Maoist Naxalites. Panic has ensued in the region following the incident.

Ashutosh Shekhar, Superintendent of Police (SP) of West Singhbhum district, has affirmed the situation, stating that timely action by the police and CRPF ensured the bombs were defused on the spot.

The incident has renewed attention on the ongoing Naxalite insurgency in the area, and security has been tightened following the bomb discovery. Legal action is underway related to the incident.
