CPI Maoist Plant Explosive Devices to Target Police in Gumla District
Police in Gumla district of Jharkhand have successfully recovered and defused around 35 cane bombs planted by CPI Maoist militants.
GUMLA – In a significant operation, police in Gumla district have recovered 35 cane bombs planted by CPI Maoist insurgents along the road to Anjan Harinajhad village.
These explosives were intended to target law enforcement personnel.
The bomb disposal squad unearthed and defused five of the devices on Friday.
The remaining bombs were neutralized on Saturday.
The explosives were spread across a 200-foot section of the road.
Gumla police reported that the bombs could not be fully removed on Friday night.
The bomb disposal team resumed their work on Saturday morning to safely defuse the remaining devices.
The discovery was made when police forces, conducting a raid in the area, noticed wires on the road leading to Harinajhad village through Anjan Dham.
Upon investigation, they found a series of cane bombs hidden beneath the road.
A police source stated, "The prompt action of our bomb disposal squad prevented a potentially devastating attack."
The police continue to monitor the area for any additional threats.
This operation underscores the ongoing threat posed by CPI Maoist activities in the region.
