NGT Directs JNAC to Allocate ₹4.1 Crore for Clearing Garbage from Temporary Landfill in Sonari

JNAC to spend ₹4.1 crore on clearing garbage from a temporary landfill in Sonari’s Domuhani following National Green Tribunal’s directives.

Jamshedpur: On the directives of the NGT, the Jamshedpur Notified Area Committee (JNAC) would spend Rs 4 crore 10 lakh to remove the trash from the temporary landfill site in Sonari’s Domuhani.

On April 28, JNAC announced a tender in this respect. The deadline to submit an online bid is May 9. Additionally, the tender must be filed in physical copy by May 10. The opening date for bids is May 11.

Sanjay Kumar, a special officer for JNAC, stated that the trash at the two-faced dump site has to be cleaned up as quickly as possible in accordance with the court’s decision. For this, a tender has been floated. The landfill site’s garbage will be separated and disposed.

He stated that while the compost trash will be sold, the rubbish would be delivered to Odisha. Unlawful dumping is no longer permitted in Domuhani, and teams of sanitary inspectors and security personnel are on duty day and night to monitor the makeshift landfill.

Legal action has been requested against people who unlawfully dump waste. JNAC began disposing of trash in Domuhani a few days ago, but some individuals set the trash on fire, causing issues for nearby residents.

Residents of Sonari complained to the Deputy Commissioner, leading to the issue reaching NGT. NGT instructed JNAC to remove the trash as soon as possible.
