Slum area minors in Jamshedpur ensuring implementation of welfare projects
Jamshedpur: Over 150 minors, mostly girls from slum areas of Jamshedpur, are ensuring implementation of government welfare projects, especially to local minors and old age residents.

These members of Bal Sangathan (child organisation) have collected data during house to house surveys for minors’ education, financial help for marriage and pension benefits to old age residents.
Bal Sangathan members under Adarsh Seva Sansthan (ASS), by June-July 2022, have submitted household data of Balram Basti, Sarjomhatu B, Pratimanagar, Gandhi Basti, Jahira Basti, and Birsa Basti.

Concerning areas Sahiya, Anganwadi Sevika’s, Self Help Group (SHG) members and other stakeholders approved these data and eventually submitted to the East Singhbhum district administration in order to let these beneficiaries enjoy the benefit under Sukanya Yojna (Now known as Savitri Bai Phule Kishori Samridhi Yojna), old age pension and widow pension.

Nishu Kumari of Bal Sangathan in Balram Basti said that she wanted to do something for the society, hence joined the project.
“I loved to be associated with the project implementation. It was a little contribution to the society by me and an opportunity to get blessings from the old age beneficiaries. We did it as a learner and it was a memorable experience that we did without self-interest or money for it”.
Kavita Mardi of Balram Basti, Ganesh Pingua and Jaipal Kunkal of Birsa Basti, Sunny Pramanik and Kumkum of Jahira Basti, Diya and Hina from Pratimanagar and 25 to 30 members of each Bal Sangathan in six slum areas have played crucial role for the implementation project.

Project coordinator of ASS, Usha Mahto said that after collecting data by Bal Sangathan, they helped locals to submit their personal documents, required to apply for getting benefits.
“ASS in association with Child Rights and You (CRY) have started the campaign to implement welfare projects to each resident of slum areas in Sonari and Kadma.

Altogether 84 applications for Sukanya Yojna and 73 for pension schemes have been submitted to the district administration for implementation.
After completing the project in six areas it will be expanded to 23 slum areas in Jamshedpur”, Mahto said.
