Torrential Rains Flood Low-Lying Areas of Jamshedpur, Admn in Alert Mode

Relentless rains for three days in Jamshedpur have resulted in rivers nearing danger marks and flooding in low-lying regions. Admn is on alert and shelter houses are ready.

JAMSHEDPUR – Unceasing rains over the past three days have wreaked havoc in many areas of the city of Jamshedpur.

Subarnarekha and Kharkai, the city’s rivers, are now merely 10 meters below their danger marks.

The continuous downpour has brought life to a standstill, with many low-lying areas flooded and water flowing over a few bridges in low lying areas.

Some low areas in Bagbera Baroda Ghat, Naya Basti, and Shiv Dham Colony, along with several other areas close to the Kharkai river, are now seeing water entering.

Approximately 100 houses have been affected by the water, causing problems for citizens.

The district administration has set up shelter homes.

However, many citizens are still holding on to the hope that the water will recede and are waiting on their rooftops for rescue.

A local resident, Vikas Kumar, informed that the bridge connecting Bagbera area has been inundated due to the relentless rain.

He further reported that many areas near river in Jugsalai have seen water entering them and water is flowing over Baroda Ghat’s link bridge too.
