Decision on opening Mandirs in Jharkhand next week

Disaster Management Authority would meet next week to take a decision on re-opening mandirs in the state. Meanwhile, the state would study the Supreme Court decision before reaching any decision.

Ranchi: No decision about re-opening of Mandirs for the general masses could be taken in the meeting of the Disaster Management Authority held on Wednesday under the chairmanship of the Chief Minister Hemant Soren.

In view of an ongoing case in the Supreme Court on the issue, any decision on re-opening the temple could not be taken.

Therefore, for now, temples will not open in the state.

Now all eyes are on the meeting to be held next week.

A decision was taken to study the order of the Supreme Court and then reach a conclusion on whether Mandir should be opened or not.

The Chief Minister was informed by Secretary Disaster Management Amitabh Kaushal that newspapers have carried a news regarding an order passed by the Supreme Court regarding the re-opening of Baba Dham Temple at Deoghar.

On this, the Secretary Disaster Management was directed by the Chief Minister to submit a copy of the order of the Hon’ble Supreme Court related to the opening of the temple as soon as possible.

It was decided that after studying the order of the Hon’ble Supreme Court, the religious places should be considered for opening in the context of COVID-19.

The Disaster Management Authority will now meet next meeting.

Those who attended today’s meeting included the Minister of Disaster Management Banna Gupta, Chief Secretary Sukhdev Singh, Additional Chief Secretary Arun Kumar Singh, Principal Secretary to Chief Minister Rajiv Arun Ekka, Principal Secretary Finance Department Ajay Kumar Singh, Secretary to Chief Minister Vinay Kumar Choubey and Secretary Rural Development Abu Bakr Siddiqui.
