Kabul falls to Taliban, Abdul Ghani leaves

Taliban have taken control of Kabul city, while an interim government is all set to take over. Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar most likely will be the next president of Afghanistan.

Desk: Kabul has fallen to Taliban. President Ashraf Ghani has left Afghanistan for Tajikistan. He quit and handed over power to an interim government led by Taliban commander Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar.

According to news doing rounds, while there is complete chaos in Kabul, the US Embassy too has halted all operations and told American citizens to remain in place, saying that there are reports of gunfire at the airport.

Taliban have entered Kabul from all sides. The UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres has called Taliban to stop their offensive immediately.

In a message posted to Facebook, Afghan President Ashraf Ghani said that he left Kabul to save Kabul and its citizens from bloodshed.

He wrote: “Today, I came across a hard choice; I should stand to face the armed Taliban who wanted to enter the palace or leave the dear country that I dedicated my life to protecting and protecting the past twenty years. If there were still countless countrymen martyred and they would face the destruction and destruction of Kabul city, the result would have been a big human disaster in this six million city. The Taliban have made it to remove me, they are here to attack all Kabul and the people of Kabul. In order to avoid the bleeding flood, I thought it was best to get out.”

He also wrote: “I will always continue to serve my nation with an intellectual moment and a plan to develop. Lots more talk for the future. Long live Afghanistan.”

Taliban have announced that there will be no transitional government in Afghanistan and soon after the power was handed to interim government led by Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar.

There is a hint that Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar may become the next president of Afghanistan.
