Dimna villagers demonstrate against Mango Municipal Corporation elections

Jamshedpur: A delegation of Majhi Baba Gram Sabha, Dimna, under the banner of Samyukta Gram Sabha Sangharsh Samiti, reached the Deputy Commissioner’s office on Friday and protested against Mango Municipal Corporation.

The delegation also submitted a memorandum with charter of demands to the District Election Officer of East Singhbhum.

During this, the villagers opposed the Municipal Corporation.

Majhi Baba Deepak Murmu of Dimna village said that since after 74th Constitutional Amendment, no law has been made in the Parliament allowing formation of Municipal Corporation or Municipality in any scheduled area.

He said that as per the constitutional provisions, municipal elections cannot be held in any scheduled area.

He said that Majhi Baba Gram Sabha Dimna also demands cancellation of rural elections of Gram Sabha as per the constitutional provisions.

Hundreds of villagers participated in the demonstration in front of the Deputy Commissioner’s office.
