Jamshedpur DC Ananya Mittal Focuses on Agricultural Development

Birsa Village Scheme Enhances Farming Techniques and Government Scheme Accessibility

In a strategic move to advance agricultural practices and government scheme accessibility in Jamshedpur, the District Magistrate-cum-Deputy Commissioner Mr. Ananya Mittal chaired a district-level monitoring committee meeting focusing on the Integrated Birsa Village Development Scheme-cum-Krishak Pathshala Scheme.

JAMSHEDPUR – Aimed at revolutionizing the agricultural landscape of the district, the recent meeting on the Integrated Birsa Gram Vikas Yojana-cum-Farmer School Scheme was convened under the stewardship of Mr. Ananya Mittal, District Magistrate-cum-Deputy Commissioner.

This initiative, operational in Patamda block and proposed in five other blocks, is designed to educate farmers about innovative agricultural techniques and streamline their access to various government schemes.

In its first phase during 2022-23, the scheme’s execution by M/s. Pragati Educational Academy was detailed by the District Agriculture Officer.

For 2023-24, responsibilities for Ghatshila and Dhalbhumgarh blocks in Phase-2, and Musabani, Potka, and Baharagora blocks in Phase-3, have been assigned to Jharkhand Jyoti, Adarsh Child Development and Educational Institute, Seed Agrotech Producer Company, and Nirman Development Society, respectively.

The monitoring committee approved the manpower bill and various activities conducted under this scheme in Patamda block, marking a significant step towards enhancing agricultural productivity and sustainability in the region.

"Agriculture is the backbone of our rural economy, and there are vast opportunities for growth and development within this sector," Mr. Mittal highlighted, acknowledging the state government and district administration’s efforts in strengthening agricultural foundations.

Empowering Farmers with Knowledge and Resources

The key objective of the Birsa Village Development Scheme-cum-Krishak Pathshala is to acquaint farmers with modern farming techniques, thereby boosting their production capabilities.

Promotion of organic farming is also a priority, aimed at preserving crop quality and soil fertility.

Mr. Mittal urged the implementing organizations to link farmers with the state’s ambitious schemes and support diversification into allied activities, enhancing farmer incomes.

Integrated Agricultural Growth Strategy

Special emphasis was placed on engaging farmers in comprehensive schemes that include agriculture as well as horticulture, goat rearing, poultry, fish farming, and cow rearing.

Encouraging progressive farmers to share their experiences is seen as a vital component of this strategy, inspiring others to adopt successful agricultural practices.

"By connecting our farmers to beneficial schemes and promoting a culture of knowledge sharing among them, we can significantly uplift our agricultural sector," Mr. Mittal stated, envisioning a prosperous future for Jamshedpur’s farming community.
