Jamshedpur: There seems to be no respite for the anxious CBSE Class 12 examinees yet, as the Supreme Court has once against adjourned the hearing till June 25 after the Solicitor General Tushar Mehta requested for more time arguing for Centre as well as CBSE. The Supreme Court is likely to give a decision on the issue on Thursday.
The Solicitor General representing CBSE said that the discussions are at an advanced stage and a decision will be taken by tomorrow evening.
A petition in this connection was filed by parents of CBSE students, who wanted the courts to scrap the exams altogether and order that the students be marked on the basis of internal assessment.
During the hearing of the plea in the Supreme Court, the couself for CBSE told the court: “The board is in the process of taking appropriate action with regard to the subject matter of this writ petition very shortly.”
After hearing the CBSE counsel, the SC adjourned the hearing till June 25.
A similar situation was also being faced by the ICSE students. However, the ICSE Board, on the intervention of the courts, have resolved the issue by giving an option to the students to choose between writing the pending papers and opting for internal assessment based marking.
As reported earlier, the Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations (ICSE) has extended the date for submitting the choice to appear for the remaining papers of the ICSE/ISC Year 2020 from June 22 to 24 now.
The council has also made it clear that the choice must be given to the candidates choose their desired option and no coercion or pressure be used by the school on the students for making any specific choice.
The council has offered all students with ICSE and ISC examinations pending in some subjects an option to either take the pending examinations in July 2020 or have their final results based on their performance in the internal assessments and marks obtained in the subjects for which examinations have already been taken.
