Tata Motors Jamshedpur Inks Historic Labor Agreement

900 Temporary Workers to be Made Permanent Annually at Tata Motors

Ranchi hosts a landmark tripartite agreement, ensuring the permanent employment of 900 temporary workers annually at Tata Motors Jamshedpur.

RANCHI – A groundbreaking agreement was reached in Ranchi during tripartite talks chaired by the Labor Commissioner.

Tata Motors Jamshedpur plant witnessed celebrations as employees rejoiced over the historic decision to make 900 temporary workers permanent each year.

Vice President Vishal Badshah represented Tata Motors, alongside Tata Motors Workers Union President Gurmeet Singh Tote and General Secretary RK Singh.

The Labor Commissioner himself acted as a signatory to the agreement, which was a significant increase from the earlier decision of making only 600 workers permanent annually.

State Congress Committee’s special invitee member Riyazuddin Khan praised the joint efforts of the Jharkhand Government, Labor Commissioner, Tata Motors Management, and Tata Motors Workers Union.

The agreement ensures that temporary employees will receive all benefits under the Companies Act, akin to permanent employees.

Representatives from both Tata Motors Management and the Workers Union, including Plant Head Ravindra Kulkarni and HR Head Mohan Gant, participated in the negotiations.

Advisor Praveen Singh from the Tata Motors Workers Union emphasized the union’s commitment to worker interests, while also addressing attempts by some to derail the agreement.

General Secretary RK Singh highlighted that the fear of transfers post-permanent employment has been addressed, with transfers not occurring without union consent.

The agreement also includes provisions for further education of employees’ children, funded by the company, ensuring a secure future for their families.

This landmark agreement marks a significant step in labor relations and employee welfare at Tata Motors’ Jamshedpur plant.
