HAZARIBAGH – A young man from Okni village was shot dead near the Karso Bridge in the Barhi police station area of Hazaribagh district while he was on his way to the Kedarnath pilgrimage.
The deceased has been identified as Vicky Soni, a resident of Okni. He had set out for the Kedarnath Yatra when the attack occurred. Criminals, who had apparently laid an ambush near the Karso Bridge, opened fire at him.
He died on the spot from the bullet wound. The incident took place in broad daylight, sending shockwaves through the entire area. A large crowd gathered at the scene shortly after the murder.
On receiving information, the Barhi police station team reached the spot immediately. The police took possession of the body and launched an investigation.
The investigators are collecting evidence from the crime scene. Meanwhile, they are also questioning residents of the surrounding areas to piece together the sequence of events.
The motive behind the shooting incident has not been established yet. Police said they are examining all possible angles in the case.
A senior police official told reporters that a raid operation has been launched to identify and arrest the accused. The officer added that the case would be resolved soon.
