BEGUSARAI – A dramatic rescue operation unfolded in Bihar’s Begusarai district after a woman allegedly jumped into a well following a dispute with her husband and refused to come out for nearly six hours. The incident, which was captured on video, has gone viral on social media.

According to reports, the incident took place near the Shiv Temple premises in Ward No. 12 on Manjhaul Chatti Road. The woman, identified as Seema Kumari, wife of Sujit Kumar Bharti, reportedly had an argument with her husband before jumping into a nearby well in anger. Fortunately, the water level inside the well was low, preventing a serious tragedy.

Witnesses said that while sitting inside the well, Seema repeatedly demanded that police be called and sought assurances regarding her safety. She also allegedly accused her husband of harassment and physical abuse. Throughout the ordeal, her young child stood near the well crying and pleading with his mother to come out, but she remained unwilling to leave.

As news of the incident spread, a large number of villagers gathered at the spot. Locals attempted to rescue her using ropes, bamboo poles, and ladders, but she repeatedly refused assistance and declined to come out.

Considering the seriousness of the situation, SI Ritika Kumari of Manjhaul Police Station arrived at the scene along with police personnel. Officers spent considerable time counselling the woman and assuring her of protection and support.

After prolonged efforts, local youths Naveen Paswan and Anil Sahni descended into the well using a ladder and successfully secured the woman with a rope before bringing her out safely.

She was immediately taken to the Sub-Divisional Hospital in Manjhaul, where she received primary medical treatment and was later handed over to her family members.

According to relatives, Seema Kumari had been under mental stress following the recent death of her brother and was reportedly undergoing treatment. Police are currently gathering information about the incident, while the viral video continues to attract attention online.
