GIRIDIH – A patient’s death at Giridih Sadar Hospital has sparked outrage, with family members alleging serious medical negligence by hospital authorities and on-duty doctors. The incident led to a protest inside the hospital premises as relatives demanded accountability for the death.

The deceased has been identified as Sunil Kumar, a resident of New Barganda in Giridih. According to family members, he was admitted to the hospital on Friday after his health suddenly deteriorated. They claimed that his condition continued to worsen after admission, but adequate medical attention was not provided.

Relatives alleged that despite experiencing severe breathing difficulties, Sunil Kumar was not provided with oxygen support. They further claimed that he was not shifted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) even though beds were reportedly available. The family believes timely treatment could have saved his life.

Poonil Kumar, the deceased’s younger brother, alleged that when Sunil’s condition became critical, the on-duty doctor was informed. However, instead of coming to the ward, the doctor allegedly asked that the patient be brought to him. During this period, Sunil Kumar reportedly passed away.

Following the death, a large number of family members and local residents gathered at the hospital and staged a protest, accusing hospital authorities of negligence. The situation remained tense for some time as angry relatives demanded action against those responsible.

After receiving information, police from Nagar Police Station reached the hospital and brought the situation under control. Officer-in-Charge Ratan Kumar Singh said the matter is being investigated and necessary action will be taken based on the findings and complaints received.

The incident has raised serious questions about the availability of emergency healthcare services at the hospital. However, the allegations made by the family have not yet been independently verified, and hospital authorities have not issued an official statement on the matter. The exact circumstances surrounding the death are expected to become clearer after the investigation is completed.
