RANCHI – The District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) organised a legal awareness camp in Kanke block on Friday as part of its 90-day legal awareness programme, coinciding with World Day Against Child Labour, with participants urging the community to protect children from exploitation.

Deputy LADC Rajesh Kumar Sinha, addressing the gathering, said that protecting children below the age of 14 from child labour and ensuring their right to education was a collective responsibility of society. Moreover, he described child labour as a criminal offence under Indian law. He highlighted the significance of World Day Against Child Labour in raising public consciousness about the issue.

Sinha shared the Child Helpline number 1098 and the NALSA toll-free number 15100 with those present, urging people to use these numbers to report cases of child labour. In addition, participants were informed about the National Lok Adalat scheduled for September 12, and were encouraged to resolve pending legal disputes through this forum.

PLVs Devanti Kumari and Babita Kumari also addressed the camp. They provided detailed information about government schemes available to citizens and explained how free legal aid could be obtained through DLSA. On the other hand, the session also covered broader entitlements under various state welfare programmes. The camp concluded with the distribution of pamphlets and leaflets carrying information about legal rights and services.
