RANCHI – The Jharkhand Staff Selection Commission has cancelled the Jharkhand Intermediate Level Combined Competitive Examination-2023, which was to be held under advertisement numbers 15/2023 and 16/2023.
The examination was meant for posts requiring computer knowledge and Hindi typing qualifications on computers. According to an official notification issued by the commission, the decision followed the withdrawal of requisitions linked to both advertisements.
The Personnel, Administrative Reforms and Rajbhasha Department of the Jharkhand government withdrew the requisitions through a letter numbered 4919, dated July 29, 2026. The JSSC decided to cancel the examination after receiving this communication from the department.
The commission clarified that the proposed joint competitive examination for various posts under advertisement numbers 15/2023 and 16/2023 would no longer be conducted. However, the announcement has left many candidates who were preparing for the exam disappointed.
Meanwhile, candidates who had qualified in computer knowledge and Hindi typing are now awaiting further updates on future recruitment drives by the state government and the commission. Besides cancelling the exam, the JSSC order also formally ends the ongoing recruitment process under both advertisements.
The commission, however, did not rule out the possibility of a fresh recruitment process being initiated for these posts if new requisitions are received in the future.
The cancellation comes weeks after the JSSC also scrapped its CGL exam following a prolonged student protest. In addition, the Jharkhand High Court has separately stayed orders cancelling JSSC CGL and CDPO appointments in a related matter.
Meanwhile, the state’s recruitment exams have faced repeated setbacks in recent months, with authorities earlier confirming that 44 recruitment exams had been cancelled across the state amid a police probe into irregularities. However, candidates continue to press for reforms, as seen in a recent rally in Ranchi against exam cancellations.
The Jharkhand High Court has also stayed a separate government order cancelling JPSC and JSSC exams, underscoring the continuing uncertainty over recruitment in the state.
