Jharkhand State Youth Commission organized a cyclothon in Jamshedpur on Sunday. The event aimed to spread youth awareness about HIV/AIDS.
The 22-kilometre cycle rally began at JRD Tata Sports Complex. Meanwhile, hundreds of men and women took part.
The route passed through Adityapur Toll Bridge. Subsequently, cyclists returned to the sports complex to finish.
Organizers set separate categories for participants aged 18 to 40. However, prize amounts were divided by gender as well.
The winner in each category received cash prizes of Rs 11,000. Meanwhile, the runner-up received Rs 9,000 in prize money.
Third-place finishers were awarded Rs 5,000 each. In addition, every participant received a certificate of participation.
Jharkhand State Youth Commission chairman Kumar Gaurav attended the event. He thanked all participants for joining the awareness rally.
He said the cyclothon reflected strong youth participation in health causes. Moreover, similar rallies have been held elsewhere in the state recently.
A cycle marathon for HIV/AIDS awareness was held in Bokaro. It was organized in June.
Furthermore, past awareness drives in Jamshedpur have drawn similar youth participation. Officials said such events help spread health messages widely.
The commission plans to continue organizing awareness campaigns in the future.
