Residents Block Golpahari-Govindpur Road over Four-Year Neglect

Angry Parsudih Locals Demand Immediate Repair of Accident-Prone Road

Key Points:

  • Golpahari-Govindpur road in shambles for nearly four years
  • Locals block road, demand immediate construction work begin
  • Protesters warn of intensified agitation if repairs not started soon

JAMSHEDPUR – Residents of Parsudih blocked the Golpahari-Govindpur road on Monday. They were protesting the severely deteriorated condition of this key route.

Angry villagers and local residents took to the streets. They raised slogans against the administration for hours. Traffic remained disrupted on the road for a considerable time.

Locals alleged that the Golpahari-Govindpur road had been in a dilapidated state for nearly four years. In spite of that, no concrete initiative had been taken for its construction or repair. Protesters questioned the contractor and concerned departments. They accused them of negligence in road construction.

Residents said the road was riddled with large potholes. Its surface had broken apart in several stretches. As a result, accidents were occurring regularly on this route. Commuters and vehicle drivers were risking their lives travelling on it.

According to local residents, several serious road accidents had already claimed lives on this stretch. However, the administration had failed to take any effective action even after those fatalities.

Protesters issued a stern warning. They said that if road construction work was not started soon, the agitation would be intensified. Administrative officials reached the spot after being informed of the road blockade. They attempted to pacify the protesters. However, the demonstrators remained firm. They insisted on a clear assurance regarding road construction.

“We have been suffering for four long years,” a local resident said. “People have died on this road. Still nothing has been done.”

Area residents demanded that the district administration immediately initiate repair and construction work. They said this was essential to ensure safe passage for commuters in the area.

The Parsudih area of Jamshedpur has a dense population. The Golpahari-Govindpur road serves as a key arterial link for the locality. Its poor condition has made daily commuting a hazardous affair for thousands of residents.
