Mobile ‘Amrit Dhara’ Service Launched in City
Initiative Provides Free Cold Water Amid Severe Heat
Key Points:
- Mobile water service launched to combat extreme heat
- Around 20 vehicles to distribute free cold water daily
- Initiative targets city areas and nearby rural regions
JAMSHEDPUR – A mobile water distribution initiative has begun to provide relief during intense summer heat in the city.
The service was launched from Sakchi with a social welfare aim. It is organised by Marwari Yuva Manch, Steel City Surabhi branch.
Meanwhile, the initiative focuses on offering cold drinking water. It targets pedestrians, labourers, and daily commuters.
Around 20 vehicles will operate daily across Jamshedpur and nearby rural areas. They will supply free chilled water to people outdoors.
Moreover, the service aims to reduce heat stress risks. Rising temperatures have increased health concerns across the region.
Branch president Payal Agarwal stated the goal is public relief. She said the organisation prioritises support during extreme weather.
However, she added that vehicles will cover multiple locations regularly. This ensures wider access to clean and cold water.
On the other hand, residents have welcomed the initiative positively. Many described it as a timely humanitarian effort.
In contrast, heatwave conditions continue to affect daily life severely. Such services are becoming increasingly essential in urban areas.
