JAMSHEDPUR – Three criminals involved in a businessman’s abduction suffered gunshot wounds during a police encounter Thursday night near Sonari.

The incident occurred around 2:30 AM on Friday. Police had taken arrested suspects for weapon recovery. However, one criminal snatched a policeman’s carbine unexpectedly.

Bistupur Station Chief Alok Dube narrowly escaped injury. The accused suddenly started firing at the team. Moreover, the police had to retaliate in self-defense.

The encounter happened near Sai Temple in Sonari area. Three suspects sustained bullet injuries in their legs. On the other hand, all policemen remained unharmed.

City SP Kumar Shivashish identified the injured criminals. Guddu Singh suffered gunshot wounds in the incident. Mohammad Imran also sustained leg injuries during firing. Besides, Ramiz Raja was hit by police bullets.

All three accused hail from Bihar districts. Guddu Singh belongs to Gaya district originally. Meanwhile, the other two come from Nalanda region. The criminals had planned the kidnapping from their home state.

MGM Hospital admitted the wounded suspects immediately. Doctors are providing necessary medical treatment currently. However, their conditions remain under observation continuously.

Police had received information during interrogation earlier. The arrested criminals revealed weapon hiding locations. In addition, they agreed to help recover firearms.

The team reached the designated spot late Thursday. Weapons and cartridges were recovered from there. Furthermore, the criminals suddenly turned violent during proceedings.

One suspect grabbed a policeman’s carbine swiftly. He opened fire at the police personnel. On the other hand, officers responded with defensive shooting.

The Kairav Gandhi case remains under active investigation. The young industrialist was abducted on January 13. Moreover, police rescued him after 14 days successfully.

Officers freed Gandhi on January 27 safely. The rescue operation concluded without any casualties. However, several suspects remained at large initially.

DGP Tadasha Mishra may brief media on Friday. The state police chief will share operational details. Besides, she might reveal further arrests in coming hours.

The midnight encounter created sensation across Jamshedpur. City police tightened security arrangements immediately afterward. In addition, patrolling was intensified in sensitive areas.

Bistupur Police Station area witnessed heavy police presence. Officers sealed off the encounter site quickly. Meanwhile, forensic teams collected evidence from the location.

The investigation continues into the kidnapping gang’s network. Police suspect involvement of more accomplices still. On the other hand, raids are ongoing at various locations.
