A kidnapping attempt on a young girl in the Jugsalai area of Jamshedpur was foiled by alert locals and members of the Akhara Committee, who intervened to rescue the victim.
JAMSHEDPUR – A kidnapping attempt on a young girl in the Jugsalai area of Jamshedpur was foiled by alert locals and members of the Akhara Committee, who intervened to rescue the victim.
The incident occurred on Gaushala Nala Road when a 35-year-old woman, reportedly from Jabalpur, grabbed the girl by the hand and attempted to take her away. When the girl resisted, she was assaulted by the woman.
Quick action by bystanders and the Akhara Committee members led to the woman’s capture and the girl’s rescue. The victim, who had sustained injuries and lost consciousness, was revived with water by the locals.
Deputy Superintendent Aarti, along with station in-charge Nityanand and Kaushik, are currently interrogating the suspect at Jugsalai police station, where she is being held in custody.
Community leaders, including Sardar Shailendra Singh and others from the Jharkhand Gurdwara, provided immediate assistance, taking the girl to Sadar Hospital for first aid and treatment of her injuries.
The incident unfolded as the girl and a friend were returning from a Ram Navami celebration. It is suspected that additional accomplices may have been involved with the assailant, as investigations continue.
