Kairav Gandhi Abduction Probe Reaches Bihar, Scorpio Owner Absconding

No Breakthrough After Nine Days, Police Action Faces Questions

Key Points:

  • Police traced abductors’ Scorpio to Nalanda district in Bihar
  • Vehicle owner Rajshekhar fled before police reached his residence
  • Nine days on, Kairav Gandhi remained untraced

JAMSHEDPUR – The investigation into the abduction of entrepreneur Kairav Gandhi near the SSP residence continued without results even after nine days.

The abduction took place near the SSP residence area in Bistupur. However, police failed to locate the abducted businessman. Moreover, no arrests were made despite sustained operations.

During the probe, police identified the Scorpio used in the crime. The vehicle was registered in the name of Rajshekhar. He was a resident of New Pokhar area. The location fell under Rajgir police station limits. The district was Nalanda in Bihar.

A police team travelled to Nalanda for verification. However, the suspect escaped before their arrival. Meanwhile, repeated raids were conducted with Bihar Police support. Each raid ended without success.

Investigators said the accused fled with the Scorpio. This development complicated the investigation further. On the other hand, police questioned a woman friend of Kairav Gandhi. She lived in the Sonari police station area. However, no conclusive lead emerged from questioning.

The kidnapping occurred on January 13 in the Circuit House area. The case drew widespread attention across Jamshedpur. Meanwhile, DIG Kolhan Anurag Gupta publicly promised an early breakthrough. However, 192 hours passed without results.

Large crowds gathered outside Kairav Gandhi’s residence daily. The situation intensified public scrutiny of police functioning. Consequently, questions arose over investigative effectiveness.

Police sources shared details of the accused’s background. Rajshekhar was the son of Upendra Singh. His father operated Marwari Basa hotel in Rajgir. Earlier, Rajshekhar ran a computer coaching centre. It was located in Hisua block of Nawada district. The centre reportedly closed after disputes.

The New Pokhar locality already had a reputation. It was considered a hub of cybercrime activities. Despite high alerts, the suspect evaded arrest.

Related developments included earlier reports such as ransom demand case. Another report covered the missing report. Business bodies also expressed concern in a chamber statement.
