Demonstrators Demand Immediate Clean Drinking Water Supply

Key Points:

  • Residents protest over foul water supply across several areas
  • Contaminated water reported in Kadma and nearby localities
  • Authorities urged to act amid rising health concerns

JAMSHEDPUR – Residents staged protests at the DC office over contaminated and foul-smelling water supply affecting multiple city areas.

Protesters gathered under a parents’ association banner on Friday. They marched to the district office demanding clean drinking water.

Meanwhile, representatives submitted a memorandum to officials. They urged immediate intervention to restore safe water supply.

Residents said the issue persisted for nearly three weeks. They reported dirty water supply in many localities.

However, the situation appeared worse in Kadma areas. These included Bhatia Basti, Uliyan, Ramjanam Nagar, and Shastri Nagar.

Moreover, people claimed visible dirt and waste in supplied water. They also reported worms appearing at times.

On the other hand, concerns about public health continued rising. Many feared waterborne diseases could spread quickly.

A representative stated the water quality remained extremely poor. He said sediments settle when water is left undisturbed.

Meanwhile, foul odor from stored water increased anxiety among residents. They warned the water was unsafe for consumption.

However, protesters alleged negligence by the responsible company. They said it held certification for water testing.

Moreover, repeated complaints failed to bring any solution. This increased frustration among affected households.

Residents carried samples of contaminated water to the office. They aimed to show authorities the actual condition.

In contrast, officials were urged to conduct immediate inspections. Protesters demanded strict action against those responsible.

Furthermore, they sought regular supply of clean water in affected areas. They emphasized urgent corrective measures.

Meanwhile, the association warned of intensified protests. They said agitation would expand if issues remained unresolved.
