BOKARO – A contract worker was allegedly subjected to a brutal assault in Kurmidih under Balidih police station limits of Bokaro late on Tuesday night. According to the victim, four masked assailants forcibly entered his residence and attacked him while he was sleeping alone. The incident has triggered concern among local residents.

The victim, identified as Suresh Sao, a contract worker at Bokaro Steel Plant (BSL), alleged that the attackers broke open the door of his house at around 1:30 am and held him captive before severely assaulting him. He sustained serious injuries during the attack and was allegedly left behind in a critical condition before the assailants fled the scene.

After regaining consciousness the next morning, Suresh Sao informed nearby residents about the incident. With the help of locals, he was immediately shifted to Sadar Hospital, where he is currently undergoing treatment. Doctors have described his condition as serious.

Upon receiving information about the incident, Balidih police reached the spot and recorded the victim’s statement. An investigation has been launched, and CCTV footage from the surrounding area is being examined to identify those involved in the attack.

Suresh Sao told police that he has no known personal enmity with anyone. He said he had come to Bokaro from outside the district for work. However, he suspects that the incident may have been linked to an old dispute. Since all the attackers were wearing masks, he was unable to identify them.

Police officials said all possible angles are being investigated and efforts are underway to identify and arrest the accused at the earliest. The incident has created an atmosphere of fear in the locality.
