On World Drug Day, Seraikela officials plan to break the drug supply chain and turn the district into a drug-free zone.
SERAIKELA – Today marks World Drug Day, and in commemoration, a training workshop related to the District Level Narco Co-ordination Center and Drug Free India campaign was held at the Auto Cluster Auditorium in Adityapur, Seraikela district.
The district’s Deputy Commissioner, SP, and other high-ranking officials attended the workshop and collectively pledged to dismantle the drug supply chain in the district, making it a drug-free region.
The officials held a marathon meeting to share their ideas on the best ways to achieve this goal.
In the meeting, Deputy Commissioner Arva Rajkamal explained the current measures taken for drug control at the district level.
He mentioned that 85 schools in the district have been chosen for the development of a drug control system.
Nodal officers will be assigned to these schools to counsel students affected by drugs and educate them about the harms of drug abuse.
Rajkamal emphasized that it wouldn’t be an easy task to put an end to the drug trade and its victims.
He noted that drug businesses tend to flourish where economies grow rapidly.
Following the successful anti-drug strategies employed in metropolitan cities will be key to controlling drugs.
Plans are also underway to establish an anti-drug facility system in the Adityapur area, and a rehabilitation center for those severely affected by drugs at Sadar Hospital.
Meanwhile, SP Anand Prakash described drugs as a significant challenge.
He stressed that the drug problem cannot be tackled by observing a single day.
He acknowledged the challenges in breaking the drug supply chain but assured that the district police are continuously working towards it.
Recent successes in cracking down on drug peddlers were cited, promising continued efforts in the future.
Prakash reassured that the police would act promptly wherever they receive information about drug peddlers.
