Parvati Ghat to Unveil Wood Furnace and Dev Aatma Udyaan on June 6

Bistupur Cremation Ground Gets Low-Smoke Furnace and Infant Burial Garden

Key Points:

  • New wood furnace uses only 100 kg of wood, far less than conventional ones
  • Dev Aatma Udyaan offers six burial zones for infants under five years
  • Multiple donors contribute Rs 5 lakh each; total funding exceeds Rs 26 lakh

JAMSHEDPUR — The Parvati Ghat committee in Bistupur is set to inaugurate two new public facilities on June 6, 2026, at 5 PM, marking a significant addition to cremation services for citizens.

The first facility is a new wood-burning furnace. It consumes only about 100 kilograms of wood per cremation. This is significantly less than conventional furnaces. The furnace also reduces the time taken for last rites. Moreover, it is equipped with a chimney system that minimises smoke and air pollution.

Sri Krishna Murari Gupta donated Rs 11 lakh for the Bistupur cremation ground furnace project. The Parvati Ghat committee has expressed its deep gratitude to him for this contribution.

The second facility is the Dev Aatma Udyaan, a dedicated garden for infant burials. According to Hindu tradition, children under five years of age are buried rather than cremated. The committee developed this facility within the Jamshedpur cremation premises with donor support.

The udyaan has six separate demarcated zones. Each zone has the capacity to accommodate 80 bodies. Multiple donors each contributed Rs 5 lakh for this facility. The donors include Sri Ratan Lalji, Naveen and Neeraj Agarwalji, Sri Anilji and Tushit Agarwalji, Sri Mahesh Agarwalji, Sri Khushman Bhai Udaani, Smt. Umaji Nathulalji, Aashaji and Naveen Podaarji, and Smt. Manju Deviji, Rahul and Vishal Saawaji.

Meanwhile, the committee also received a donation of Rs 5 lakh for renovation of the Pavitra Niketan, which is the toilet and bathing area at the ghat. Sri Nirmal Bhai Pandyaji donated this amount. The civic welfare initiative has been warmly welcomed by the community.

The Parvati Ghat is registered under the Society Registration Act 21 of 1860, with registration number 910/2012-2013. It is located on Kharkai Link Road, Bistupur, East Singhbhum, Jamshedpur — 831001. The committee is currently headed by President Dipak Panchamia and Hon. Secretary Dipendra Kumar Bhatt.

In addition, the committee pointed out that the new furnace is cleaner and more eco-friendly. A reliable source familiar with the development said it would reduce the environmental burden of open-air community religious activities considerably.

The committee has invited citizens of Jamshedpur to attend the inauguration. It said public presence would give the committee strength and encouragement to serve the community better.
