ADITYAPUR – A speeding trailer struck a scooter and motorcycle near IDTR on Tata-Kandra Road late Wednesday night, killing one youth and critically injuring another in Seraikela district.

The NL-02 Q-7066 trailer was speeding toward Kandra. It first hit scooter JH 05 DH-50954 from behind. The driver abandoned the vehicle immediately. He fled the scene after impact.

The driverless trailer veered across the road uncontrollably. It then struck motorcycle JH 05 BV-1386 coming from opposite direction. Two youths were riding the Bullet motorcycle.

One youth died instantly at the crash site. The other sustained serious injuries in collision. Local residents rushed the injured to hospital. His condition remains critical under medical supervision.

Chaos erupted following the accident on the busy highway. Adityapur police reached the location promptly. Officers seized the abandoned trailer vehicle.

Authorities initiated postmortem procedures for deceased victim. Police launched raids to apprehend fugitive driver. Traffic remained disrupted for considerable duration afterward.

The Tata-Kandra road has witnessed multiple fatal accidents recently. A teacher died in July 2024 on this route. Moreover, a journalist also lost his life in similar circumstances.

Investigation teams are examining all aspects thoroughly. Police continue searching for the trailer driver across district. Authorities have registered case under relevant sections.
