CPI (Maoist) Protest Against Alleged Police Action Halts Normal Life
Naxalites sabotage Howrah-Mumbai railway line, stranding trains for hours.
JAMSHEDPUR – The Communist Party of India (Maoist) enforced a one-day bandh across Kolhan division on Wednesday, severely disrupting daily life and transportation.
Naxalites uprooted fish plates on the Howrah-Mumbai railway line between 2-3 AM, halting all train movements.
"Security forces rushed to the scene upon receiving information," a railway official stated.
A Maoist banner placed on tracks in the Manoharpur-Jaraikela section further complicated the situation.
Train services were suspended for about 5 hours, resuming at 6:10 AM after security clearance.
Government offices and businesses remained closed in Manoharpur and Anandpur blocks.
Long-distance bus services from Chaibasa were suspended, stranding numerous passengers.
Law enforcement maintained high alert, especially in Manoharpur, Anandpur, Jaraikela, Chhota Nagra, and Chidiya OP areas.
The bandh protested alleged civilian casualties during police operations in forest regions.
This event highlights the ongoing tussle between the Maoists, who have on the run for last few months, and the security forces in Jharkhand’s rural areas.
