JAMSHEDPUR – A man died after a late-night shooting near his home, prompting anger and fear across the locality.
The victim was identified as Shekhar Sandil. He collapsed outside his residence in Deonagar.
However, his sister said she discovered him unconscious and bleeding heavily. She returned home around 12:30 a.m.
Police reached the spot after neighbours alerted them. They rushed him to the MGM hospital.
However, doctors noted massive blood loss and a close-range bullet wound. He died soon after treatment started.
Shekhar worked at a private parking site near the new court area. He returned home as usual on Tuesday night.
Meanwhile, his family claimed he had an old conflict with local youth Rahul Singh and another person. They said tensions had flared earlier too.
A relative alleged that rising unlawful activity in the area worsened the situation. He said administration lapses encouraged offenders.
Moreover, residents stated that crime had been increasing in Deonagar. They said firm action was lacking.
On the other hand, questions emerged on how attackers operated freely in the deserted lane. People demanded accountability from authorities.
Police took the body for autopsy. Officers said raids were underway to locate those responsible.
In addition, a resident said, “The shooters acted without fear. That shows the grip of criminals here.”
The incident occurred under the Sitaramdera police station area. The locality has witnessed tensions before.
Moreover, earlier cases in the city, including the bikers gang arrest, have highlighted violent trends. Officials had also investigated a key suspect in another killing.
Besides, past probes such as the murder mystery case and the 2016 conviction show continuing scrutiny. Police also acted recently in the Sunil Singh case.
