JAMSHEDPUR – A major fire broke out late Saturday night at the Palang Market near Chhayanagar in the Sakchi police station area of Jamshedpur, reducing several shops to ashes.

The incident occurred around 1:30 am, when flames quickly spread through adjoining shops. Goods worth over ₹1.5 lakh were reportedly destroyed in the blaze.

Local residents acted swiftly and managed to control the fire using buckets and water before it could cause more damage. Fire brigade units reached the spot soon after and doused the remaining flames completely.

Upon receiving information, Sakchi police arrived and launched an investigation into the incident. Officials stated that strict action would be taken if any foul play was detected.

Meanwhile, local residents urged the administration to increase night patrolling to prevent similar incidents. The affected shopkeepers appealed to the government for financial assistance to recover from their losses.
