Aditya Sahu Accuses Hemant Govt of Betraying OBCs
BJP Leader Claims JMM-Congress-RJD Alliance Broke Reservation Promise
Key Points:
- Jharkhand BJP working president alleges betrayal on OBC reservation promise
- Government gives only 14% reservation instead of promised 27% in civic polls
- Sahu claims alliance playing with sentiments of 50% backward class population
JAMSHEDPUR – Jharkhand BJP working president and Rajya Sabha MP Aditya Sahu accused the Hemant Soren government of betraying backward classes on reservation commitments.
Sahu addressed a press conference at Hotel Dayal International in Sakchi on Thursday. He termed the JMM-Congress-RJD alliance a “thagbandhan” or fraud coalition. Moreover, he alleged continuous manipulation of OBC sentiments.
“This government is insulting backward communities through its decisions,” Sahu stated. The backward class population comprises approximately 50% of Jharkhand. However, their concerns are being ignored systematically.
Jamshedpur MP Bidyut Baran Mahato attended the press meet. Besides him, Hatia MLA Navin Jaiswal was present. In addition, BJP Jamshedpur president Sudhanshu Ojha and district media in-charge Prem Jha participated.
Sahu highlighted contradictions between government promises and actions. JMM and Congress promised 27% OBC reservation during 2024 assembly elections. Furthermore, the INDIA alliance’s joint manifesto included identical commitments.
“When time came for actual implementation, they backed out,” he added. The government approved only 14% reservation on October 14. Moreover, this happened after prolonged delays in triple test procedures.
The decision came for civic body elections. However, it fell significantly short of manifesto promises. Besides, it exposed the coalition’s actual intentions clearly.
“This isn’t the first time backward classes were ignored,” Sahu noted. Panchayat elections were conducted without OBC reservations initially. Meanwhile, triple test formalities completed only after court directions.
He criticized Congress party’s historical record on OBC welfare. The party kept Mandal Commission report pending for years. Moreover, Congress never granted constitutional status to Backward Classes Commission.
“Congress even insulted its own OBC leaders like Sitaram Kesri,” Sahu remarked. In contrast, BJP governments have honored backward communities consistently. Furthermore, Prime Minister Narendra Modi himself belongs to OBC category.
Vice President also comes from backward classes, Sahu pointed out. Besides, Modi government granted constitutional status to Backward Classes Commission. Moreover, dozens of central ministers represent OBC communities currently.
“Hemant government has deceived all sections of Jharkhand society,” he concluded. Neither tribals nor dalits feel satisfied with governance. In addition, backward classes and upper castes remain unhappy.
Youth, women, farmers and workers all feel betrayed. Meanwhile, the government’s anti-people character stands fully exposed. Furthermore, every section’s trust has been broken systematically.
