JAMSHEDPUR – A political storm erupted after a BJP panelist allegedly threatened Congress leader Rahul Gandhi during a live TV debate.

The incident occurred on a Kerala-based news channel. BJP representative Printu Mahadev reportedly said he would shoot Rahul Gandhi in the chest. However, this remark quickly drew nationwide criticism.

Rajeev Mishra, media in-charge of East Singhbhum Congress, issued a strong statement. He called the threat shameful and an insult to Indian democracy. Moreover, Mishra noted that Gandhi represents millions by raising issues of unemployment, corruption, farmers, and marginalized groups.

According to Mishra, the attack was not only on Rahul Gandhi but also on the people’s voice. He accused the BJP leadership of shielding individuals making such derogatory and dangerous remarks.

Meanwhile, Congress general secretary K.C. Venugopal termed the case highly serious. He wrote to Union Home Minister Amit Shah demanding strict legal action. “If no FIR is filed, it will show BJP’s complicity,” Venugopal warned.

The East Singhbhum Congress Committee placed three demands: arrest and prosecute Printu Mahadev immediately, a clear statement from the Home Minister in Parliament, and a public apology from BJP leadership to Rahul Gandhi.

In addition, the party threatened nationwide protests if the government failed to act. “This is a direct attempt to silence the opposition,” a local Congress source said.
