JAMSHEDPUR – JMM leaders paid homage to martyrs of the Gua firing incident on its anniversary.

Former MLA and JMM spokesperson Kunal Sarangi, along with Kharsawan MLA Dashrath Gagrai, visited the memorial. They honored those who lost their lives in the police firing of September 8, 1980.

Sarangi stated that the sacrifice of innocents in Gua had ignited the Jharkhand movement. Moreover, he said it laid the foundation for the state’s eventual creation.

He remarked, “The Gua firing became a symbol of Jharkhand’s identity and rights. The martyrs’ sacrifices gave us strength for the struggle. Our duty now is to build the Jharkhand they envisioned, with justice, equality, and opportunities for youth.”

He added that the sacrifice remains etched in Jharkhand’s soul and would inspire future generations. Meanwhile, he assured that JMM would always honor martyrs and support their families.

A large number of local residents and JMM workers also gathered. They remembered the martyrs and resolved to realize their unfinished dreams.
