JAMSHEDPUR – The Jharkhand Banglabhashi Unnayan Samiti has urged that the under-construction Mango flyover be named after Veer Khudiram Bose.
A delegation of the committee met Jamshedpur West MLA Saryu Roy to present the demand. They also requested that a statue of Veer Khudiram Bose be installed near the site.
The delegation recalled that the martyr’s memorial and statue earlier installed at Mango Chowk were relocated by the district administration during flyover construction. They emphasized that without reinstatement, future generations may lose awareness of Khudiram Bose’s sacrifice.
The committee informed Roy that a formal letter had already been sent on August 11 regarding this matter. They appealed for his support to ensure the request is considered.
In response, Roy assured them he would place the memorandum before Chief Minister Hemant Soren in the assembly. He added that he would request sympathetic consideration of the proposal.
The delegation included Rajesh Roy, Anshu Mukherjee, Asit Chakraborty, Kamal Chakraborty, Sanjeev Acharya, Tarak Mukherjee, Ranjit Aich, Biswajit Chakraborty, Prem Ranjan Ghosh, Pranab Vikas Dhar, Pulak Sarkar, Pranab Kumar Das, Chandan Mitra, Jouhar Rakhshit, Anant Kundu, Kamal Chakraborty, Abhishek Dey, and Piyush Paul.
