Steel Minister HD Kumaraswamy Inaugurates Air Separation Unit at Bokaro Steel Plant

BOKARO – Central Minister for Heavy Industries and Steel, HD Kumaraswamy, and State Minister Bhupati Raju Srinivas Varma concluded their two-day visit to Bokaro today. During the visit, the ministers inspected various units of the Bokaro Steel Plant and participated in discussions on future expansion and investment strategies.

Minister Kumaraswamy inaugurated a 2150-ton per day capacity Air Separation Unit at the Bokaro Steel Plant. He emphasized the government’s commitment to modernizing steel production facilities, which includes an investment of over ₹15,000 crore to increase the plant’s production capacity to 7.55 million tons. The ministers also visited the Tisra Coal Mines and announced plans to accelerate its expansion project worth ₹6,500 crore.

Expansion and Employment Initiatives

While speaking at Bokaro Airport before departure, Kumaraswamy outlined the Steel Authority of India’s (SAIL) vision to meet a target of 3 million tons of steel production by 2030. He added, “These expansion projects will create significant employment opportunities and strengthen India’s steel sector.”

State Minister Bhupati Raju Srinivas Varma echoed these sentiments, noting that SAIL’s efforts would play a pivotal role in achieving the ambitious production goals.
