Odisha Leads with High Solar Subsidies and Partnership with Tata Power

JAMSHEDPUR – Odisha Renewable Energy Development Agency Limited (OREDA) has signed an MoU with Tata Power Renewable Energy Limited (TPREL) to implement the Pradhan Mantri Surya Ghar Yojana (PMSGY) in Odisha. This initiative aims to solarize 3 lakh households by 2027, with Odisha offering the highest rooftop solar subsidies in India.

Under the scheme, consumers can avail subsidies of up to ₹1,38,000 for 3 kW rooftop solar units, including ₹60,000 from the state and ₹78,000 from the central government. This partnership ensures affordable, clean energy access, with Tata Power listed as a preferred solar partner by OREDA.

Enhanced Awareness and Local Engagement

Public awareness is central to this initiative, with campaigns planned at high-visibility locations such as malls, airports, and railway stations. TPREL will also conduct educational sessions for local vendors and provide training for solar rooftop installation and maintenance.

Focus on Key Cities

The program initially targets cities including Bhubaneswar, Cuttack, Puri, and Sambalpur before expanding statewide. OREDA and Tata Power will work together to ensure smooth implementation through regular reviews and support for government agencies.
