POTKA – In a significant demonstration, 65 ration cardholders from Bangoa village in Hathibinda Panchayat staged a protest at the Potka block office, demanding their pending supplies. Led by Congress leader Anand Das, the protest highlighted the failure of the ration shop operator to provide supplies for two months.
Administrative Intervention
The protestors, unable to meet BDO in his absence, approached CO Nikita Bala. Taking swift action, she directed AGM Vishal Rai and Welfare Officer-in-Charge Sukhdev Hembram to ensure the distribution of one month’s ration immediately.
Repeated Protests
This was the second demonstration by the affected cardholders. A similar protest occurred on January 13, where assurances for timely distribution were made but not fulfilled. Persistent issues prompted today’s renewed protest.
Allegations Against Ration Dealer
The ration shop, managed by Shobha Rani Mahato under the Annapurna Mahila Mandal, was accused of withholding supplies for two months. The protestors included Sumitra Hembram, Chhotan Mahato, Joba Rani Mahato, Anjana Mahato, and others.
The administration has assured that the pending ration will be distributed without further delays.
