Cow Dung-Based Paint Promises Sustainability and Jobs
Adityapur’s Jyoti Bala introduces an innovative eco-friendly paint, supporting local employment and environmental sustainability with the brand Surdeeb.
JAMSHEDPUR – In an innovative approach to sustainable living, Jyoti Bala from Adityapur has unveiled ‘Prakritik Paint,’ a cow dung-based paint that offers environmental and health benefits, produced at a local plant in partnership with KVIC.
Crafted with ingredients like cow dung, water, corn flour, and natural gum, the eco-friendly paint boasts anti-bacterial and anti-fungal properties, contributing to healthier living spaces.
The production facility, spanning 4000 square feet, operates with a daily output of 500 liters of paint, providing livelihoods for 120 families and promoting cow rearing among local villagers.
Surdeeb Paint, available in 956 shades, is celebrated for its odorless quality and cooling effect, enhancing interior comfort without the use of heavy metals or toxins.
Behind this green initiative are Jyoti Bala and her husband Manoj Kumar, who advocate for expanded governmental support to nurture cottage industries and generate youth employment.
Marking its official launch on March 7, the venture represents a significant leap towards combining traditional knowledge with modern sustainability practices, aiming to reshape the paint industry in Jamshedpur and beyond.
