SERAIKELA – A road safety awareness campaign was organized at NR Plus Two High School in Seraikela, where District Transport Officer (DTO) Girija Shankar Mahato addressed students and teachers about the importance of following traffic rules. Around 200 participants were educated on using helmets and seat belts to reduce road accidents and save lives.

Lessons on Safe Driving Practices

DTO Mahato emphasized the risks associated with overspeeding and the use of mobile phones while driving. He urged attendees to adopt strict safety practices and inspire their families to do the same. “Adhering to road safety rules can significantly ensure a brighter and safer future,” he remarked.

Insights on Good Samaritan Scheme

Motor Vehicle Inspector Dilip Kumar and Road Engineer Ashutosh Kumar Singh explained the Good Samaritan scheme. Under this initiative, individuals helping accident victims reach a hospital within the “golden hour” receive ₹2,000 and a certificate of appreciation. They also highlighted provisions for hit-and-run cases, where financial assistance of ₹2,00,000 is provided for fatalities and ₹50,000 for severe injuries.

Distribution of Materials and Pledge Ceremony

Road safety booklets and pamphlets were distributed among students and teachers. The event concluded with a pledge-taking ceremony to strictly follow traffic rules. The program was attended by DTO Girija Shankar Mahato, Motor Vehicle Inspector Dilip Kumar, Road Safety Manager Kundan Verma, and other officials.
