Sakchi Mandir demolition issue hots up, Hindu outfits protest

Jamshedpur: The issue of demolition of under-construction Hanuman and Shani Mandirs in Sakchi is hotting up now as Hindu outfits have come out to lodge strong protest.

Members of Hindu outfits demonstrated the demolition of Mandirs next to the newly constructed building of the Graduate College just a short distance from the Deputy Commissioner’s Office.

Hindu organisations have charged that the company and administration have taken unilateral action and have demolished the Mandirs without taking them into confidence and even while discussions were on.

On Wednesday, several members of Hindu outfits led by Arun Singh, president of Hindu Peeth, reached the Deputy Commissioner’s Office. They raised slogans and submitted a memorandum to the administration demanding to rebuild the temple.

Hindu organisations are unhappy with the administration for two reasons. They say that when talks were on between them, the company and the administration why were the mandir demolished by taking unilateral action without taking them into confidence?

Secondly, they say, a similar structure for another community has also been built recently near the same temple. They ask as to why it was left untouched? Why was nothing done for that site?

The members of Hindu outfits expressed fears that if the site of another community is allowed to remain in the area, this may cause problems in future because Graduate College for Women will be operating next door.

The Hindu Peeth has demanded immediate action from the administration to clear the way for re-construction of the mandir.
