Construction Activities at Hospital Linked to Rising TB and Dengue Cases
Key Points:

- Workers report health issues due to ongoing L&T construction activities
- Government quarters lack basic amenities including water and electricity
JAMSHEDPUR – Healthcare workers’ union members met MGM Medical College and Hospital Principal to discuss uniform shortage and worker welfare concerns.
Dr Diwakar Hansda led the discussion with union representatives. “We will ensure prompt delivery of uniforms,” a hospital official stated.
Uniform Supply Crisis
The union highlighted widespread non-compliance with uniform rules. “Many employees cannot follow the mandate due to supply issues,” a union member explained.
Meanwhile, the administration has promised swift action. The hospital plans to expedite uniform distribution.
Health Concerns
Construction activities have sparked serious health issues. “Our workers are falling ill due to dust exposure,” union vice president Amarnath Singh noted.
Moreover, tuberculosis cases have increased among construction workers. The dust from L&T’s construction site poses significant risks.
Infrastructure Problems
Government quarters lack basic facilities. Many workers face daily hardships without proper utilities.
Furthermore, residents bear additional expenses. They must arrange water and electricity independently.
In addition, the union seeks immediate intervention. Living conditions need urgent improvement.
