JAMSHEDPUR – Forty-three professors from Kolhan University’s 1983 batch have retired without receiving promotions, facing significant financial losses.

The affected professors should have been promoted from readers to professors by 1995. The issue stems from administrative complications.

“The situation remains unchanged despite numerous appeals,” said a retired professor from the university.

Administrative Deadlock

The Higher Education Department has denied responsibility for the delay. The matter lies with JPSC and the university.

Meanwhile, similar cases in Ranchi University were resolved positively. Those professors received their benefits after court intervention.

On the other hand, Kolhan University’s proposals to JPSC face continuous rejection. No progress has been made in two years.

The UGC introduced new rules in 1998. This created regulatory gaps between 1995 and 1997.

Moreover, the transition between Bihar and Jharkhand’s service conditions complicated matters further. The issue affects career progression.
