  • Rail Users Association criticizes slower trains in updated timetable.
  • Passengers urged to verify updated timings before travel.

JAMSHEDPUR – Train timings at Tatanagar station will change drastically from January 1, 2024.

While it is something that the passengers would have to check out if it in any way affects them or not, the fact that the travel would now take slightly longer time for most of the trains is something that has drawn criticism from the rail users.

The changes that are about to be effected to the Tatanagar Station train schedules have now sparked concerns among passengers.

Train timings at Tatanagar Station will undergo significant changes starting January 1, 2024. South Eastern Railway has revised the departure schedules for 17 express trains, including major routes such as Tata-Patna Vande Bharat and Tata-Buxar Express.

Passengers are advised to check the official South Eastern Railway portal for the full updated schedule.

A comparison shared by Jharkhand Rail Users has shown some shocking facts. For many of the trains the travel time has increased significantly. For Tata YPR Express, the difference is as much as 30 minutes. Similarly, for Tata Kir Express, the different is 25 minutes. And this is not insignificant. The stress should have been on reducing the travel time. Instead, now it has been increased, the rail users say.

Criticism from Rail Users

The Jharkhand Rail Users Association has criticized the new timetable, arguing it compromises efficiency. A statement from the association questioned the logic behind slower trains amid major investments in railway modernization.

“Slower trains in 2025 signify a step backward when speed and efficiency should be priorities,” the association noted, referencing the focus on infrastructure upgrades like high-speed projects and signaling systems.

Public Reaction

Social media users have also voiced frustration. One passenger commented, “Despite modern advancements, slower schedules waste millions of collective hours. We need a network that values time!”

Advisory for Passengers

South Eastern Railway has urged travelers to verify timings before booking and plan to arrive at stations promptly.
