JAMSHEDPUR – Jamshedpur police have issued a stern warning to those planning to drink and drive or create disturbances during New Year celebrations. Offenders risk spending the start of 2024 behind bars.

Under the leadership of City SP Kumar Shivashish, a special “Drunk and Drive” campaign has been launched. Thirty checkpoints will operate on December 31 and January 1, with senior officers, including SPs, DSPs, and station heads, supervising activities late into the night.

Stringent Surveillance Measures

To maintain order, the police will deploy plainclothes personnel at strategic locations and use CCTV cameras for round-the-clock monitoring. “We aim to ensure a safe and joyous New Year for everyone. Any violation will face strict action,” said SP Kumar Shivashish.

Public Awareness and Enforcement

In addition to surveillance, the police have launched public awareness drives about the dangers of drunk driving. Flyers, posters, and announcements are being used to inform residents about the campaign and the repercussions of violations.

Safety First for New Year

The police’s proactive approach underscores their commitment to public safety. Residents are advised to cooperate and celebrate responsibly to avoid any legal trouble.
