RANCHI – The Jharkhand Housing Board is likely to launch an investigation into MS Dhoni’s Harmu residence following reports of its likely intended commercial use in future.
Board Chairman Sanjay Paswan emphasized strict regulations regarding land use. The government had gifted the 5-katha plot to Dhoni in 2009 for residential purposes only.
“Commercial activities are not permitted on residential properties,” said a senior housing board official. “We will issue notices if any violations are confirmed.”
Property History
The former India captain constructed a luxurious house on the VIP area plot. However, Dhoni later relocated to his farmhouse in Simalia with his family.
Meanwhile, recent news reports talked about an intention to establish a pathology center at the property. Furthermore, news reports in the local media said a signboard was installed but was reportedly later covered with green cloth.
Broader Crackdown
The housing board has already issued notices to about 300 property owners. Moreover, they face scrutiny for conducting commercial activities on residential plots.
Additionally, the board previously served notice to BJP’s office for similar violations. Besides, officials have been directed to cancel allotments where unauthorized commercial activities are discovered.
