JAMSHEDPUR – The cold wave intensified in Jharkhand as temperatures across the state plummeted, with Jamshedpur recording a low of 9.3°C on December 12, breaking its two-year streak.
The minimum temperature in Jamshedpur on December 12 fell 2.9°C below normal. Comparatively, December 13 saw a slight rise, with the temperature reaching 9.6°C, still 2.6°C below the seasonal average.
Meteorologists reported that the temperature drop of 2.5°C in 24 hours was influenced by cold winds and dry weather conditions. Dr. Abhishek Anand, a weather scientist, stated, “The cold spell is expected to continue till December 15, with dense morning fog followed by clear skies.”
Jharkhand’s other major areas also faced significant drops. On December 13, DaltonGanj recorded the state’s lowest temperature at 7.9°C. Bokaro and Baharagora recorded 8.1°C each, while Ranchi stood at 10.0°C.
