JAMSHEDPUR – Acting on directives from the SSP of East Singhbhum, Jugsalai police arrested a youth with a significant quantity of brown sugar during a special campaign against crime and illegal activities. The raid was conducted near the railway tracks in Gareeb Nawaz Colony, leading to the seizure of 40 packets of brown sugar and ₹1700 in cash.
The accused, identified as Altaf alias Pillu Bacha, is a resident of Gareeb Nawaz Colony in Jugsalai. Police stated they had received repeated complaints about drug peddling and illegal gatherings in the area. Acting on these inputs, a patrol team raided the location.
Upon seeing the police, several individuals attempted to flee the spot. However, the patrol team managed to chase and apprehend Altaf. A search of the accused led to the recovery of the brown sugar packets and cash.
The arrested youth has been sent to jail, and further investigations are ongoing to identify others involved in the illegal trade. Police officials emphasized their commitment to eradicating such activities from the area.
This successful operation was part of a broader campaign to control crime and anti-social behavior across the district. The police team included Officer-in-Charge Rajesh Biha, Sub-Inspector Sumit Lakra, Havildar Kundan Ram, Shankar Kumar, and other personnel.
The SSP has urged the public to report any suspicious activities, assuring that strict action will continue against offenders.
