Investigation Deepens in Palamu Shelter Home Abuse Case, Arrests Made

MEDININAGAR – Following the exposure of a sexual abuse case at the Palamu shelter home, authorities have relocated 27 girls to a Ranchi facility for enhanced security. Meanwhile, police are investigating the absence of one girl, whose name appears in the shelter’s register.

The administrator and counselor of the Palamu shelter home have been arrested and sent to jail. Acting on the directions of Deputy Commissioner Shashi Ranjan, the administration terminated the DCPO, POIC, and counselor. A recommendation to dissolve the Child Welfare Committee (CWC) has also been made.

FIR Filed Under POCSO Act

A case under the POCSO Act and other serious charges has been registered against the accused at the Women’s Police Station. During the investigation, police seized the shelter home’s attendance register, which showed 28 names. However, only 27 girls were found at the shelter.

According to the administrator and CWC, the 28th girl was from Latehar and had been sent home. Police are now preparing to visit Latehar to verify this claim and locate the girl.

Enhanced Security Measures

To ensure their safety, all 27 girls were transferred to a Ranchi-based shelter home. The administration has intensified its efforts to prevent similar incidents.

A special investigation team has been deployed to uncover the full scope of the case. “We are examining all angles, and the missing girl’s status is a priority,” said an officer involved in the inquiry.
