Anti-Encroachment Drive Set to Be Launched Across Key Adityapur Areas
Joint Effort to be made by Adityapur Municipal Corporation and Traffic Police
Key Points:
- Anti-Encroachment drive to cover major roads and junctions in Adityapur.
- Repeated offenders to face action under municipal and traffic laws.
- Heavy police presence deployed to ensure smooth operations.
ADITYAPUR – A large-scale encroachment removal drive is about to be conducted under the directives of Adityapur Municipal Corporation Administrator, with support from the traffic police. Repeated warnings through miking have been issued to the vendors.
The initiative is aimed to clear public roads and service lanes obstructed by illegal stalls and structures.
The campaign is likely to cover critical locations such as Kharkai Bridge, Akashvani Chowk, Sher-e-Punjab Chowk, Adityapur Police Station Road, Imli Chowk, and S-Type Chowk. Earlier announcements were made via public miking on December 2, 2024, followed by a second round a day before the drive. The action was necessary to address frequent traffic jams and accidents caused by encroachments.
Stubborn Encroachments to be Targeted
Despite prior warnings, vendors and shopkeepers continued to occupy public spaces. Kharkai Bridge saw a rising number of fruit carts, which had been removed earlier but reappeared. Authorities imposed fines during a joint operation three days ago. Repeated violations will now attract stricter action under the Municipal Act and traffic rules.
Public Spaces to be Reclaimed
Several shopkeepers had encroached on service lanes by erecting unauthorized sheds and stalls. Roads near Adityapur Police Station were significantly narrowed due to bamboo structures on one side and vegetable sellers on the other. Similarly, permanent iron stalls in Sher-e-Punjab Chowk disrupted pedestrian movement along the service road.
Municipal authorities has issued a 24-hour self-removal notice before proceeding with the campaign. Magistrates, along with armed forces, were deployed for smooth operations under the supervision of the Sub-Divisional Officer, Seraikela.
Future Action
Authorities have warned of continuous action against encroachers and have urged compliance with regulations to maintain public convenience. The drive aims to prevent a recurrence of obstructions on Adityapur’s busiest routes.
